I have been very busy over the holidays.

Great job! Love all thedesigns.
Was all of the embroidery done on felt? Did you use stablizer on the back? After the embroidery was finished, is that when you cut the shapes out? Last, but not least, what kind of machine do you have?

Most of the designs were done on felt. Some of the snowmen and gingerbread men were done on cotton.
These designs have two sides. The back is just to finish the item and hide all the stitches. I embroider two (one for front, one for back) dielines onto (cut-away) stabilized (with temporary spray adhesive) fabric (of your choice) and cut them out. Then, I embroider the dieline (first step of the design) onto a tearaway stabilizer in the hoop. Then, place the front cut-out onto the dieline in the hoop after spraying with temporary spray adhesive. Embroider through all the steps until I get to "back piece tack down", then I take the hoop out of the machine and stick the back cut-out to the back/underside of the hoop. That is when I also add ribbon in the sandwich for hanging. Then, the machine will do back piece tack down and outer borders, then the candy holes, which are basically buttonholes. I don't cut them out, though. I use tear away stabilizer to embroider the designs on, so they just tear out.
I have a Brother SE-270D

I can't seem to find out. We've had ANOTHER snow day. The kids had two weeks of vacation and missed 2 days before vacation. They were supposed to go back Monday, but we've been out all this week, too. We'll be lucky if they go back this week.

My goodness apart from being busy you are really artistic in getting all the colours right. That was a lot of work and I am sure you enjoyed every moment of it. It is such a good idea for the little ones. Have granddaughter who is turning six and you have given me an idea of what to do for her birthday party at school (she has one at school and then one at home). Obviously not so intricate, as I don't have a fancy embroidery machine and with difference characters. Must really put my thinking cap on... Thanks for sharing... ciao
