    Irish Chain

Made the quilt from Eleanor Burns' Irish Chain In a Day Book. I made the bedskirt (with inserts) and shams from my own pattern, but inspired by her pattern. The fabric is from MODA and it is the Morris Tapestry line (Strawberry Theif). I did all the piecing but sent the quilt out to my local LAQ. Hope you like it!

Beautiful!! How much fabric did you need to make the bed skirt? I've always wondered.

Perfect piecing and beautiful quilting. I used that pattern to make a wedding quilt for my youngest daughter, so it's special to me. I like your shams, too.

It differs with your bed. My bed required 16" from edge of box springs to the floor. I added 2 inches for attaching and hemming. You measure the length of the side (x2) and across the bottom. I think mine was 60+60+55 (not sure but I'm close) so I needed 175+6 (for edges - the hem if you will) = 181 inches by 16 inches. The decking (what goes on top of the box springs and below the mattress) I used an old queen size sheet. I hope this helps!

I, too, am DVR'ing the QIAD series. I have this book, too. I love your version of this great quilt! The fabrics/colors are just wonderful. And your LA'er did a beautiful job. Kudos to both of you!!!
