Very pretty quilt. Fun to do something different -- at least somewhat.

Congratulations! It's so liberating to decide "this is a quilt I'm going to try new things" with no pressure. Your motivation is definitely in high gear!

I looked at your pictures and couldn't help but think this is a quilt that Bonnie Hunter would be proud to see! It's so scrappy and fun! Truly lovely, and I'm glad to see I'm not the only one whom has been making quilts and trying new(to me)techniques. Love your gumption to just go for it!

What a great finish Julia...it looks like it was a fun project and happy to hear that you enjoyed the FMQ part of it too.

I love scrappy quilts and have so many scraps from so many quilts from over the years. My scraps are not as organized and Bonnie Hunter's that is a given. Believe me there are a whole bunch of "mistakes" in this quilt. That is what the learning process is all about. The binding gave me a whale of a time. Something that looks so easy was the biggest challenge. Now it is all washed and I played with it last night with DH before I folded it up and set it aside. It will go with me for Show & Tell at my next guild meeting.

Love the end product and the fact you were liberal in your thinking to try to learn new things along the way.

In regard to the binding, I think it looks just fine. I machine sew all my bindings now after having great difficulty holding the small needles. But most of my bindings are the Faux Binding, Flange Binding (and whatever other name is used). By mating the bobbin thread to the backing and matching the top thread to the flange I found really good results. It takes more fabric and time to do this, but I am always satisfied with the results. Good luck in your endeavors.
