Congratulations! My niece is due in late April and she's having a boy. It would have been my mom's first great-grandchild, but she passed away in March '08.

I agree that something light (like a pink or pink/white) to frame it. Your mom did great! I'm sure it'll be a cherished piece for decades to come. My great grandmother crocheted a granny square afghan for me when I was born and I still have it in my cedar chest today.

Don't forget to update us when you decide on what to do :)

Your Mom is very talented. Hope I am able to still do something at 89! Congrats and what ever you do will make it look great!

Congrats Mary! And your Mother did a beautiful job on the bear. I love it. I agree with the others, something very light and low key to let the embroidery pop.

How about prairie points in the colors to match the hearts. My grandmother loved to put prairie points on the baby quilts she made.

How about no border or something scalloped?

Your Grandaughter, your mom's Great grandaughter already has something wonderful to cherish and she's not even here yet!

Something special from 2 different generations, done together, not many get a gift that precious :-o

    Congrats by the way.

Congrats Mary!! Your mom did a fabulous job on the embroidery!!! I would keep the border simple, too. Pastel and frilly. I like the idea of an eyelet lace edge too. Let us know what you do with it!! The teddy bear is just too cute!

Thank you everyone and thank you for the ideas.

I looked at a couple things today. I would love to do pink and frilly but my daughter isn't a frilly person. Yellow is her favorite color. I'm trying to give her a little time to get used to a girl (she was thinking it was going to be a boy).

She wants me to make her a diaper bag that is gray. I asked her if I could at least put some pink piping on it. She said maybe yellow. I am showing great restraint here not to go crazy pink and frilly.

Our SIL is really into soccer. He has already decided on the soccer club she will go to.

Being a grandma can be hard sometimes. LOL

lol, can i vote twice? i love baby stuff. I agree that prairie points would be great and I would use ginghams that match the colors in the embroidery. I also agree practically anything will be great with this. It's so cute! congratulations on the baby. C
