Love the jelly roll rug!
My first one was cotton fabric, and for my second one I used indoor/outdoor fabric (I was afraid the cotton would get worn to easily). Just received two more pieces of I/O fabric to make more! Also, I bought some Scotchgard. Don't know what you put on the back for nonslip, but the bumpy plastic for footed pajamas works great.

I love your rug, so bright and cheerful. Makes me want to try one again. I never seem to get them to be flat. Every time I see someone post a new one I think- I should be able to get one done. I really love the polka dot fabrics in yours. Just makes me smile looking at it. 🤗

They get easier. Make sure you support the rug with books if you dont have your machine sitting level with the table. Lengthen your stitch used for sewing the strips as you assemble the rug. Don’t try to “ease” the outer strip too tight esp around the tighter curves and keep in mind...the after the 7th go-round, it really gets easier! Take your time. And, yes, I have started over.

I have not made one. Yours is beautiful. When I was growing up I remember my grandmother making small braided rugs mostly out of wool from worn out coats.

thank you for the tips, I finished another quilt top, maybe I will go in and give this another try. I certainly have enough strips to make a large one.
