This is my first Log Cabin. I call it "Lincoln's Legacy". Please excuse the picture not being that great. I usually get Jim to hold up my projects, but since I do not want him to see it..........I had to put clothes pins on the curtain rods. It is 6 months till Christmas eve. I can take my time on the hand quilting. How does it look?

    The whole thing.

Thanks everyone. I have been wanting to do a Log Cabin for almost 3 years. Feels good to get started.

I sure will show the quilting Chele. I am going to put the outlines of (what else) log cabins.

They are a lot of fun, mytwopals. But I still had to concentrate. Put a couple of strips in the wrong place and had to take them off again.

I chose blue because it is our favorite color, AND I have so many small pieces that I wanted to use up. I had a BAD habit of buying quarters all the time. No more. From now on, It's yards. I might not have so much variety, but I will have enough if I feel like starting a larger project. What color do you plan to use, or do you know yet?

I forgot to ask............should I put a border on this, or leave it alone?

I vote no border, but if you do, maybe a very thin red one, followed by a blue one?

I love the colors! This is very nice!

I love it!!! Personally, I'd do a thin red border and wider blue border. It doesn't need to be too wide, even a few inches. Or mabye red piping and blue border - just enough to frame it. It's really beautiful! Don't forget to post pics when it's done! :)

I've been collecting fabric in shades of pinks/yellows for a log cabin for me. As much as I'd like to start it, I decided it's best to work on the Christmas presents first.

Lovely quilt. I vote for a piping border surrounded by a medium blue border.

Boston I love the quilt and love the colors in the log cabin pattern. I am sure he will love this present.
If he doesn't I will send you my address and you can give it to me for Christmas.

Very Very nice! I think Jim will love it...I would only add a border if you need it to be bigger.
