    That is part of the fabric called Coraline. Look at the border, the fabric comes in stripes like the border. I think there were 4-5 stripes per width of fabric. Then you make templates and fussy cut to get the effects in the quilt.

    Love this quilt, looks like it should hang in a Palace.

    The border strips I especially like, they look like braid.
