July 4th fun for a good cause
I gave up on fireworks several years ago. Too hot and too much traffic. So I had breakfast with a friend and we recovered her dining room chairs and I (finally) made a big pressing board. I already had the batting and fabric and she had the staple gun. Yay! After my friend went home I started fiddling around, wanting to do something but not anything too complicated. Well, there is a movement to create 15 1/2" blocks for flood victims in Calgary. You can get the information here:

So I made 4 "slabs" as described on that website but also, if you are familiar with the book "Sunday Morning Quilts" the method is described there, as well. It is a fun way to go through a bunch of scraps and a little different take on string quilt blocks. These are the four I made.
Spend a little time on Flickr searching "Just One Slab" and you can find some awesome blocks and quilts made with this method.
