Jungle Babies Puzzle Quilt for new grandson

Just finished this baby quilt for grand baby number 4 who is to arrive sometime in the first week or so of September. It was a fun quilt to do. My DIL picked out the fabrics and wanted a puzzle design. The first picture is the back, using a panel for the center. The second is of the front. Did some fussy cuts for some of the blocks and one border. Did the quilting on my Brother LB 6800 while spending the summer in my RV in The mountains of Colorado. Free motion quilting still needs more practice, but it is gradually getting better!

Great choice of colors - it looks so soft and antiquey (is that a word?). I also like that it's totally reversible with really no front or back.
A fabric stash is always missing that one fabric needed to finish the quilt on which you're working.

Cute quilt, and both sides could be the front.

Yes it is a panel. I wanted to tie the theme of the front of the quilt into the back so when I saw the Jungle Babies panel it seemed perfect to go with all the other prints.

new to applique, but not to sewing and quilting. When it says cut 1/4 " outside of the solid lines and there are dotted lines that denote overlapping all around the solid lines , how can you cut on the solid lines when the dotted lines are on the outside? I cut on the dotted lines but then the form of the applique is lost. Does this make any sense? This is the horse head pattern "Mistral".

Your quilt for your expected grandson is really cute. I like the puzzle front-lots of fun for him to play on. The idea of using a panel to start the back is clever-an idea to file for future consideration.
