If I can find some time I am going to borrow your idea for my special ed class. Last year they made quilt squares with fabric squares but we did something wrong (I know what we did) and the all faded to ugly colors. One of my students is working on brightening it back up!! Yours is beautiful.

Me too....but I teach about 125 kids at a time (6th grade in middle school) and I never figured out how to not leave anybody out. I did see a whole elementary school quilt once that had over 300 handprints and hung in the cafeteria since it was the only place with a ceiling high enough. It was amazing!

Dear Peggy, I machine satin stitched around the hands. First I traced the hands onto light weight fusable interfacing, ironed them onto the fabric, cut out and before sewing I put a sheet of paper towel on the bottom of the backing square to act as a stabilizer. When I finished sewing I removed the paper. Hope this helps you!

Oh! the teacher kept the quilt as a memory of her class.

That is truly a "Wow!" quilt! What a lucky teacher she is! That border is great, as well. Really fantastic!

Dear lyncat, I made a quilt with your avatar pattern for a friend who loves VW's. It was so much fun picking fabrics for each block. I'll post it! :D
