    Layer Cake Stars, finished!

I posted this last month as a wip, wasn't sure how I was going to put the blocks together, but I was having fun making them from a layer cake that I bought a while back from Connecting Threads. I decided on this simple on point setting because the blocks are so busy and colorful that I didn't feel like they needed much in the way of borders, etc.
The star points on the blocks are folded, not pieced, which I really like, mostly because it made the blocks go together really quickly and easily. But when it came right down to it, I didn't like them flapping in the wind, so I quilted them down with a free motion wavy stitch. It suits my inner ocd.

Georgeous...love the bright cheeriness of it, and the star block are great.

Families are like old quilts....although they tend to unravel at times...each can be stitched back together with love.

I think the quilt and quilting is beautiful; but I love the pieced back. I had not thought of this before. Thanks for sharing it. Teresa
