Lazy Kate

I have only been quilting since July. I come from a weaving spinning background. This is called a lazy kate. These bobbins would be full of hand spun yarn and one would ply (put two or more yarns together). The string going over the top is a break to keep the bobbin from unloading or spilling into a tangle.
I attended my first ever quilt guild meeting last week and one woman was adding binding and wished for a better system to keep the binding from miss behaving. I played with this and great for sashing or binding.

What a good idea, I had never thought of that. I was also a spinner and weaver so I have a few different styles of lazy kates. Thanks for the info.

I wind my bindings on a cardboard that comes in the boxes of cat food. It is so nice and it doesn't get all tangled. Peach eats "Fancy Feast" and the card boards are about 6" x 8". I was never a weaver but I would buy one of those if I saw one for sure!!!!
