It feels like I've been a mad woman working on this block. It's #13 of the 40 needed for this quilt. The name is appliqued feather. The space to cut and turn under was so small that I had to take even teenier stitches than usual. And, as always, my block isn't exact to the book. I take designing liberties with what I do. The feathers were stitched in reverse applique method. I think that's the same technique used on Hawaiian quilts. Someone out there will know and tell me if I'm wrong. Please do.

Okay, this quilt is Little Brown Bird by Margaret Docherty. I have completed other blocks and they are posted in my album here on QB. If you have any questions, just ask and, thanks for looking.

Ahhhh Thank you, Mariposa. It's everyone's sweet comments that keeps me pushing to get this one done. I figured it would take me 3-4 years to do this quilt but next month I'll have been working on it for 1 year. And, I have 13 of 40 blocks done, and 1/2 the corner and side triangles. So, if I can keep on pace this winter I might finish it in less time.

Great job Nanna, and one more done. It hurts my eyes just thinking about those teensy stitches.

Thanks, Donna. Yes, one more done. And my eyes do hurt...... eye strain from looking at all those teensy stitches.

Reverse applique is not what is used in Hawaiian applique. Your work is beautiful. I do needle turn applique on my Hawaiian quilts but they can also be done by machine.
