    a legacy of quilts

    Hope this isn't too confusing:
My daughter's husband's grandmother (on his father's side) had 6 quilt tops that had been pieced by her grandmother. My daughter's husband's grandmother (on his mother's side) is an awesome quilter. Soooooo - the quilting grandmother got the 6 tops from the other grandmother and has spent untold months finishing the job started two generations before.

The one that is mostly red/white/blue had been given to a family friend - 40 years ago. When clearing out a cabinet the friend found the long-forgotten top and .... got it back to the grandmother saying, "It's time it came home." THAT'S what got all of this started.

The lady in the picture is my son-in-law's grandmother - surrounded by the quilts pieced by HER grandmother. Wow.

    Enjoy!

That is so awesome. What a gift of love from everyone to all in the family.

I don't think she's chosen a favorite - she's absolutely in love with them all.

A beautiful lady surrounded by beautiful quilts! What an amazing legacy to be handed down in one family! I have a single quilt handed down to me that is very old and we have no idea who made it. I plan on making sure my family has many of them to hand down to all of their children! Thank you for the wonderful story and gorgeous pictures!

What a precious treasure and how wonderful that the two young people linked up the two grandmothers with their legacies and talents.
