I am making a Civil War quilt. It calls for 25 blocks for a queen size, but I am so tired of it already that I am struggling to finish it. I made 16 blocks, each block is 15 1/5 sq. Each block will be sashed a second time with the same fabric as the first sashing and with corner post. My thought is to stripe the sashing - the camel color with a narrow stripe of black in the middle. I want it to cover a queen size bed. I will add a narrow border and a wider border to the outside - using two of the fabric in the blocks.

Have you ever worked on a quilt that you just felt you did not want to finish ...but did anyway? I am finishing the quilt, but without joy. Help!!

here are my blocks and the layout. Next is the second sashing, then the borders.

Well it is beautiful so far. Maybe put it aside for a short time and go back to it. Sometimes that's all it takes to love it again.

I understand how you feel. I have had to do this as well. I find your quilt very beautiful, but what is important is how you feel about it.

I know you will feel GREAT once it is finished; I can only recommend that you break it down into small pieces and it will soon be done. Please be sure to post a finished pic.

Samplers always Do seem to take so much longer but sashing and borders go quick!

Have to agree with the advice to put it down for a while. This is from the voice of experience. Have never done a queen size sampler, but know I've had to put aside my 12 block sampler b/c I felt like you do. Am working on some Easter & spring projects just for fun.
