I am doing the blanket stitch on one of my quilts-having trouble-what kind, and size needle do you use, what kind of thread, and how do you do it? is done just on one block or on the whole quilt? I'd appreciate the answers

I have a new way of doing it where I wrap the thread around the needle with each stitch. This keeps them straight and makes a knot at the top of each one so they don't sag or slip or lay over. I usually use two strands of embroidery floss. Sometimes three, but usually two. I use a regular embroidery needle. Not too big, but big enough to thread it easily. I sew mine one block at a time, then put the quilt together.

The quilt I am doing, has to go through 5 layers of fabric. I am struggling. thinking of trying by machine, but I love your quilt and would LOVE to do it your way. Your quilt, and design is awesome!

    Thank you!
Ugh! Five layers-- I think I would be doing it by machine too.
