    Default Log Cabin Quilt

Went through some old Quilters World magazines and found this "Cabins in the Meadow" in April 2013 issue. I changed the layout a little ( I usually do) and made it 5 by 7 blocks. I've only done one other log cabin quilt and I liked how this one combined a snowball and a log cabin block. AND all from stash..I think I even have enough material for the backing!
So here it is up on the design wall...ready to be put together. I hand quilt so Ill be looking through my patterns for the snowball center.

That turned out so pretty. For fun you could hand quilt an actual log cabin in your snowball blocks.... even one in a snow drift There's a few on the coloring pages.... https://www.google.ca/search?q=log+c...w=1229&bih=859

Great scrappy LC blocks, and nice addition of the snowballs! Fun idea!

I love this layout. It's definitely a keeper for other log cabin quilts. I love how it plays with many hidden designs. One minute I see hidden stars with the dark brown fabric, then stairs leading upward with the logs, then another pattern works in with the snowball. Can't wait to see it together, and quilted. Be sure to share a photo of that when you're done.
