Thanks everyone for all the kind comments .

The Lone Star is my favorite quilt pattern. It just "grabs" me.

I used Eleanor Burns "Radiant Star" pattern (this is strip method), but I made some changes. I made the large triangles that connect to the center star bigger, so I had more cream fabric showing beyond the star points. I also added more borders & length panels top & bottom. I drew it out on paper & then with the help of my husband we figured the cutting dimensions. The embroidery was pretty easy, except for holding the quilt up off the embroidery machine arm. I used my ironing board to support the biggest section & my arm to hold it up freely off the machine arm as it ran. My arm got pretty tired, but I took a lot of breaks. Hooping was easier than I thought it would be. I used fabrics & thread from Connecting Threads.

The main thing about Lone Star patterns is they require perfect 1/4 inch seams or it'll throw the whole pattern off. So I did a lot of ripping in the beginning.

I have fabric to make a Lone Star for a friend in Sweden next. That one I'll start after the holidays.

Beautiful quilt and I love the colours. I have just prepared all the pieces to take with me on my trip to Oz, it will be done by hand, just hope it turns out as lovely as yours.
