WHAT A BEAUTIFUL QUILT! :D :D

My mother started a quilt when I was a small girl (pre-k) for herself and gave it to me finished as a wedding present (the quilting on it made the deadline for the wedding because mom asked an amish woman to finish the quilting and to please have it ready for the wedding). It is such a wonderful gift it had me bawling at my wedding shower. Around here somewhere are the photos of her and I holding it up for the camera while we got all teary underneath!

I love lone star quilts. Some day I would love to make one. I found a place online that would send you all the diamonds precut for $69 or so, but strip piecing!?!?! I love it! I knew there was a reason that book was on my wish list. ;)

I did some searching online and found this site

http://www.angelfire.com/va3/jclane/.../LoneStar.html

it isn't the exact way I learned, but fairly close (my strips were 2 1/2" wide) I took a class at our local quilt shop...hope this helps. It looks alittle intimidateing, but once you make one...your'e hooked! Makes great baby quilts too, just reduce the number of fabric diamonds you use from 8 to 4 ... GOOD LUCK and have fun!

You'll notice the one I made has only 6 dimonds at the widest point...and the quilt is laying on a double size bed...that gives you an idea how big it is.
