Look what was in my yard today

Hold on a minute while I get the sauerkraut!! Hubby wanted to get a couple domestic baby turkeys this spring so we could raise them. After thinking about it I realized no way could I raise those little things and then have them for dinner. I'll buy my turkey in the supermarket, less personal that way!! Sure sign that season is getting ready to change.

Aren't they something else? There are a lot of them around here and I keep an eye out to watch them. I call all the hens "Haggies", they just look like old hag ladies with their widow's weeds dragging around them. When the big gobbler shows up, now there is a display. Early in the spring, he escorted a young tom off his territory and it was about a half hour scenario, watching him move the younger along, then stop and display, gobble and start all over again. Between the turkeys and the deer, I am never too bored here.

Thanksgiving dinner on the "hoof"! I love to watch turkeys. But, don't get a lot of them around here. Actually, the only turkeys we see around here are in the grocery store. The neighbors down the road, do keep about 10 of them. Great shot.
