Thread: Which looks better?

After looking at this design for awhile, the 4-patch blocks in the center of the Jacob's Ladder blocks started to look a little off. They were oriented so that the blue/green squares were down the middle of the blocks. I changed them to have the white squares down the middle.

Which looks better? Does the white down the middle look too regimented and predictable? Or does it look more in keeping with the on-point setting of the blocks?

lol... I should have known that creative people would have different opinions.

I think I like the left one. It seems more restful to my eye, the pattern being definate instead of broken up.

But then, I like traditional patterns best too.

First one, too. You also might want to see what it would look like if you had all the green on one side and all the blue on the other with the white down the middle.

They're both nice. With #2, you would quilt the entire 4-square sashing as a single entity and with a single motif. With #1, you could separate the quilting of the 4-sqares into 3 individual motif rows or as a single motif with a heavier quilt concentration on the white squares to show it off.

Hmmm... I'll check out green/blue on the same sides.

The white down the middle and doing a center quilt motif down the middle of the white squares sounds interesting.

Oh, I like that idea! But keep in mind I'm a super boring traditionalist. I not only don't think outside the box; I don't even get too close to the edges of the box.

I prefer #1 but they are both very pretty - either would make anyone a happy receiver!

I like the one on the right. Someone said it's more restful to the eye, and that's what is catching my eye.

I had to join in here. I guess it would depend on what you want to be the focal point. On the first one, the white down the middle stands out where as the one on the left it blends in more, or that is what MY eye sees. It is interesting to hear what peoples choices are. I personally like the one on the right. No I do not need change back for my two cents worth!!!!

Pam, knowing what your work looks like, no matter which one you choose it will be fabulous.
