I really like the way you off-set the middle row of blocks. I would not have thought of that. But it really makes for a better quilt than if they all just lined up.

For "winging it" you certainly came up with an awesome quilt. Love the colors and any adult or child that especially loves cats would adore your quilt as I know your friend will. Great job.
