I used to "jury" items in my own craft field and felt part of my responsibility was to give some feedback as to why a piece was rejected or, if included, where further improvements might be considered to make it even more exceptional. I also found that a lot of judges, when faced with excellence, feel a tinge intimidated or threatened and that if included... this item and maker might further dilute a small pool of recognized artist and by expanding their "ranks" make everyone a bit less relevant. Sadly many judges do not understand when they continually exclude... they ultimately discourage growth and excellence and that is why so many crafts contract but also revive over time. Could someone more educated than myself ( pretty much an experienced novice here) find fault...more than likely, but personally if this piece is indicative of something you can make over a relatively short period of time, I hate to think of the magnitude of your more involved creations. Rejection is part of life but just say "no" was meant for drugs and I say "yes" and just keep trying....you certainly inspired a lot of us here!

Well that's a lovely Christmas Present Basketman. Yes, rejection is a part of life. I tend to enter my pieces sporadically. But I have found a number of magazine venues are more welcoming. And of course there are lots of on line methods. Fortunately I have a sales venue, otherwise my home would be over run with stuff, pretty stuff mind you, but stuff!
So I do feel the love! LOL
