made this out of tartans and homespun for my dad. some people suggested i remove the tan squares but after some thought i decided they stand out much more in the pics than they do in person so i left them in. this was my 1st d9p and my 8th quilt since i started quilting this summer. this is about a twin size although i didn't measure it, just eyeballed it to make sure it would be big enough for him to sleep with. i'm planning on peicing the backing as well.

just to add for educational purposes.... tartans and homespun are patterns that represent alliances, clans and belonging to certain groups. they are very specific and are passed down from generation to generation whild plaids, while woven similarly are generally just created on the spot by designers and have no signifigance other than they are still a celtic pattern. anyways, the pics (:

a few squares

I like this. I agree with you on the tan squares. I would have left them in also. They give it a little something.

I like it, don't change a thing. Look, you have an orb in the second pic. Orb's are good and they must have liked it too.
