Marathon Custom Memory Quilt
#1
I made this Memory Quilt for a friend/client's mother-in-law's 80th birthday party. She ran out of time and I had a break between quilts. (of course the minute I started on this project 5 quilting customers appeared with 24 hours). The pictures did not arrive until 8 days prior to the party so it was a supreme effort to get this done but I thought it turned out beautiful. Because there were so many photos and so little time I chose to applique the photos. I used Heat-n-bond light and a tiny and tight zig zag. The piecing took about 40 hours and the quilting almost 18. She didn't want stitching over the pictures so I freehanded between the pictures loops and swirls, and in the interest of time I chunked the borders using Anne Bright's Denali and Along the way borders. Loved the results. Finished size was 81 x 112. The quilt was completely finshed, binding and all (with the help of another friend on the hand stitching part) about 4 hours before the party began. Thought I would share.
81 x 112 Memory Quilt (74 family members represented with the newest one born as I was piecing the quilt.)

Its just gorgeous Cindy!! Fantastic quilt. I cant tell you how much your story reminded me of my mother, it made me smile. She made alot of her clothes and if they had an event to go to, she was forever hemming her dresses on the way in the car, LOL
