They are Boer goats which is a meat goat. We dont have any 100% , We do have one that is 98% and down to one 50% which is the lowest percentage that can be registered and we have 2 that are just grade, cant register.

Where I grew up they have a festical of sorts every year they call "Home coming" The lions club I think it is, has a really nice mobile kitchen and the cook BBQ goat meat. They always sell out. They call them Goat Burgers and top them with slaw. I have never been able to cook it to taste like theirs and never tasted any like theirs. I think they butcher soemthing like 100 goats a year fresh just for the event which lasts a week.

We take them to the sale and beyond that I try not to think about because these were my babies! But I am sure the buyers are either getting them for meat or maybe just for breeding to build their herds,( that is my choice of thought)

I dont blame you for wanting to think about it. My grandfather raised pigs and he used to give us babies to take care of when a momma died before they could survive on their own and we had to learn at an early age that our pets were sometimes food on the table. I never did do well with that. But I can purchase meat that I did not personally know and feel ok with it.

OK I gave DH all the names everyone mentioned and he likes Dapper Dan! His favorite movie is OH Brother, Where Art Thou with George Clooney and Georges character used Dapper Dan hair pomade! Odd reasoning but at least the little guy is named!
