I was going along well with the heart appliques and making a nice quilt when I messed up the bottom row. So I was like man what am I going to do. Well I had recently seen a show on tea dying a quilt to age it. So I figured hey I got one I have messed up so I'll give this tea dyeing thing a try. So I did. Here are the results.

After the tea bath

After the tea bath. Going to wash it now to see if anymore of the tea color comes out.

The dying looks good Henry. It does make it look aged.

Oh I like the tippy heart! It looks like you had one who just didn't want to follow its peers--wanted to go her own way. That's cute!! I have a tippy heart in my class every year. :D I bet you know a few Henry! You could make a great lesson for your kids using that quilt--have them write a story about it--trying to explain why that heart isn't the same as the others!! Have them wrtie from the heart's point of view. Oh my head is filling with ideas!! :D

The tea thing worked well too! I like the look.

Henry,
I like your quilt. Wouldn't have realized you didn't plan it that way & the tea bath really notched it up!

Henry, I don't think of that as a mistake, just a design opportunity. I really love the tea dye too. :-) :-) :-) Pam :-) :-) :-)

I'm not sure where the mistake is but it is certainly clear you took the mistake and made it into a design opportunity. It turned out great! And I too love the tippy heart. It makes a cute quilt into a charming quilt.
