""They all look great! Any reason they had to be 36"? Could you make them wider? ""

Jane Quilter,
They ended up about 36" because I did not have enough strips to begin with. That was my fault. I thought I had counted better than that

Liz Katsuro has a free e-book on how to size the jelly roll race quilt to any size. Website is http:/jellyrollfabric.net.

Since no one has answered yet, I will. When they are sewn end to end the long strip is halved, then they are halved and halved and halved. Adding more strips doesn't make them as wide at each pass just longer. Once you are done, You have what you have. When I have made larger ones, I start with more strips than a jelly roll to make it wider and then add strips to the ends to make it longer. The columns work out so much better in my opinion.

This is my grandaughter's favorite quilt to make. She gets all the strips sewn together likes to see how many rooms she can pull it through when doubling the first time. She also sweeps and mops at least the path she plans to go. I cannot complain.
