Several years ago I used to piece by hand and I used 3/4" squares. But now I have shortcuts I use called the cut down method that allows me to make these without handling anything smaller than 1" and most of what I do is 1 1/4" or 1 1/2"

My mom was an antique collector all my life and she was a dealer for awhile so I collect a lot of collectibles and I am drawn to furniture like this pie safe. It is the only one I have seen that is this tall. It stands 6" tall. My reproduaction one is only 4". The tin panels made a good background to show the magnets.
Thanks for the kind words! I love my pie safe too! Inside it I use it to hide the tv and videos my grandkids use. The bottom has blankets they use when they stay on the weekends.

Loretta yes I could do a Dear Jane quilt but my life is too busy to find the time. Plus I hate!! long seams so don't do big quilts any more. The one I looked at looks very interesting tho! I like to make samplers in my hotpads. Might get some inspiration from a Dear Jane quilt. I am always on the lookout for new ideas. I like variety and adding new patterns to my inventory.
