    Minnesota Skies

This is a 55" x 72" lap quilt made from the 2011 Minnesota quilt fabrics and has a yummy brown minky on the back. This is the first piece I've taken to a LAQ mainly because I was too nervous about quilting on minky. I am thrilled with how it turned out! I try to do my own quilting but decided I'm going to treat myself once in a while. Quilt pattern is "In Flight" from Country Fabrics and Quilting in Brainerd, MN. I decided to name it Minnesota Skies because of the flying geese and the fact that our family has a cabin by Brainerd, MN, that we love to spend time at. Can't wait for summer to get here!

Beautiful quilt! And a great name for it! The Brainerd area is so nice! I've never used minkee. How is it? Does it wash OK?

I like your layout. Your design is unique and beautiful, but not at all fussy. The backing does look so inviting. I like your use of that little striped fabric too, the borders and binding.

That is a pretty lap quilt, and cozy too. I like the the geese placement in this quilt, and colors are nice too.

I like it. I really do. It looks simple to do, but doesn't give off the ora that you just whipped it out. Does that make sense to you like it does to me? Nice job! Like how you tied in the material that frames the flying geese and the binding.
    Go forth and sew!

Hi, Burchquilts~ Minkee washes great and just feels soooo nice. Lots of fuzz if you cut it! I'll practice quilting on a small piece with minkee but didn't want to chance it on a bigger quilt.

That's a gorgeous quilt - I love the staggered geese in formation. Your quilter did a wonderful job, too.
