    Well, it seems to be all about precision and having your seams the same size. I'm not an experienced quilter but I have sewn a lot & just followed the directions in the book & on her pattern. I used a piece of Scotch Mounting Tape as the guide on my sewing machine. It has a little thickness so the fabric doesn't jump the guide... It really helped keep my seams the same & I could just keep a finger on top to feed the fabric in. Also, definitely take Eileen's advise to keep the stitches small so the edge doesn't start to come out as you are working with the quilt. Have fun!

    That is a beautiful quilt, and the colors do suggest waves of water. You did a beautiful job.
