I really love the way it's turning out! I'm going to add this idea to my growing list of things I want to try. Thanks for sharing pictures of both steps!

So, you cut the boxes in quarters and mix and matched them up with the other quarter boxes?

I love them, by the way!

Thank you for posting your pictures of the quilt in process. I've seen the Bento box quilt before and thought that is a lot of cutting and piecing! Now that I've seen your pictures, I know that it is a lot of cutting and piecing but I know the secret now! Great mix of colors too.

Yep, it's pretty simple. I started out with a 6 inch square for the center, the first round is 1.5 inches, then 2 inches for the second round, the third round is 1.25 inches and the last is 2.25 inches, all of these are cut measurements. I pressed the rounds out from the center on half of the blocks and in towards the center on the other half so that the seams would butt
when I sewed them back together. I think it helps, but those seams really fight being pressed towards the center. then the blocks are cut into quarters and reassembled. Lots of cutting and sewing but nothing difficult. it was fun to see how the different fabric combinations came out on each step one block, and even more fun when I reassembled the mix-up blocks.

Wow, did not know that was the way it was done. Have been curious about the bento box.
Thanks so much for sharing. Love your quilt and the colors!

This is really neat! I can see why it would be so scary to cut up the blocks...but the results are certainly worth it!
