Wonderful! Other than practice, practice, practice, do you have any special techniques you use? Do you use Supreme Slider, bobbin washers, a particular thread or FMQ foot, etc?

This piece is 13" square. I plan on stretching it over a frame, like a canvas, so I can hang it like a picture. :D My 17-year-old DGD is WAY into pink and black, so she'll get this one for her room if she likes it.

I'm doing this on my Juki TL 98Q, and I started out with a supreme slider that has since met with an unfortunate stitching accident. I replaced it with 1/2 of a non-stick oven liner that I got at Bed Bath and Beyond for about $15. I punched a smalll hole in it for the needle and tape it securely in place with some clear packing tape. I like it BETTER than the supreme slider, and the price was certainly much better too.

I don't need bobbin washers with my machine since the bobbin case has a sort of springy washer-like thing in it already.

As for thread, I use a prettty wide variety... This piece has some poly embroidery thread that I got as a package deal on ebay a few years ago. If I have something that is the color I want, I'll try it out to see how it quilts. If it works, I use it. Mostly though, I've been using some bargain thread I got at the S.A.S. Fabric warehouse in Phoenix. It seems to be very high quality, just wasn't high priced. I do LOVE Superior threads if I need to go out and buy a specific color.

And you are so right about the "practice, practice, practice" part!
