Default More quilts instead of my DJ blocks

Well, here I am again, with other quilts making my DJ blocks get put on the back burner. This first one I did for a nephew's son, who starts school this fall. I incorporated a tiny piece of the material into one of my DJ blocks. It says LOVE TO LEARN and is on a chalkboard. Appropiate for both of us.

This next one, I created in less than 36 hours from first cut, to finishing the binding. I was at work on this past Friday, July 27, when my boss came out to me and asked if I could possibly do a small lap quilt, it measures 40x55, for a fellow employee, who had to retire unexpectedly, due to health, and there will be a retirement party for her this Friday, August 3. She asked that it be a signature quilt, so fellow employees could sign their names on it. So, I got home from work at 7 pm, dug in my stash, found some material that would work, and just did strip piecing, which goes pretty fast. By 1130, when I quit, I had the blocks sewn across in strips, and ready to work on Saturday morn, when I finished putting the strips into a top. Then it was put it together with the batting and fleece backing, and do the quilting. Just plain diagonal strips, which split the white blocks, to allow 2 people to use that square. so I have room for 140 names. I got the binding cut and sewn on, and finished the binding this morning. Here it is.

Thanks to everyone for the comments. I took it in to work this morning, and everyone thought that it was so neat to sign their name on a quilt. Can't wait to see the gal who will be receiving it.
