Default MSQS North Star

Almost a year ago, I was the grand winner at my Strip Poker table at our retreat (no no no! everyone kept their clothes on. It is the dice game and the buy-in was 5 batik jelly roll strips) I won 85 strips!! Well, retreat is rolling around again and I need to have my strips made into 'something'. When I saw the North Star pattern, I fell in love. That quickly turned to 'like' as I started assembling the blocks, and then to 'what was I thinking' as I tried to sew the blocks together according to the pattern. With my fabric, the layout caused my eyes to hurt. Trying to match points caused palpitations.

I finally decided to change the layout and make it more organized and traditional. I also decided to add a very (1/2 inch) narrow sashing between each block. That probably saved my sanity. It took me 3 afternoons to assemble the top from the blocks. I am exhausted but it is done!! Thanks for looking.

I really like your quilt. I found the original pattern and see why you wanted to do. I would consider making it too but I need to start on a quilt for the first great grand child before I do this one.

All your headaches and frustrations turned out to be definitely worth it! It's gorgeous. Congratulations on a wonderful accomplishment.
