I like the piano keys all around the outside.

I, too, love your piano key border, but the whole quilt is wonderful as it has been personalized to the recipient. My favorite kind. I use Kona too, but prewash and starch heavily, so it seems to fray less.

Yes, my daughter has several song lyrics and/or sayings that she loves. So I had sewnsewer2 (on this board) embroider the words onto white and I went from there. (BTW, she does awesome work!)

I love this quilt!! I am also planning to do a musical quilt, have been collecting music material and patterns. I am planning to use the keyboard along the edge so it is great to see it on yours and find that it works so well. Not sure of my main pattern but I hope to work on it this coming year. Thanks so much for sharing.

One thing I might add as I did this quilt. I meant to use as many different music theme fabrics as I could but in the end I really don't like all the variety. If I ever do another it will be the same background for all the embroidered blocks with some pieced black and white (pinwheels, etc.) in between. I really struggled with this asymmetrical layout.
