My nephew just turned 1 and his party is this Sunday. He loves the zoo so when I saw this quilt, I just knew it had to be for him. I appliqued all the animals using fun-to-feel fabrics like velour (the snow leopard), suede, cracked (for the elephant), batiks (the parrot), fuzzy fleece (the lion's mane), and flannels, suedes and fleece. I stitched-in-the-ditch around the frames, stippled in theblocks around the appliques to make them pop more and then did a loopy design in the borders. My DD (age 8) picked out the backing fabric, reasoning that every zoo has to have fish and she thought this print worked well with the binding that I'd already made. Thanks for looking!
