Soooooo, this is my batik lap quilt, the first quilt I've ever machine quilted myself. (With my other quilt tops I've sent them out to a LAQ). The pattern's called "Lunar Eclipse" which I found in an issue of McCall's "Quick Quilts" last Nov.
I'm pretty happy with it, and love the batiks I used, but it was a learning experience!
I don't know what I was thinking when I decided that trying to quilt circles for my first ever machine quilting project was a good idea?!...oh yeah, I was thinking they'd compliment the quilt's design. And despite the fact their lumpy and imperfect (let's call them "quirky" or "filled with character") I do think they look good.
I was also stuck on what colour thread to use with such a wide variety of colours, and finally settled on grey, which works most of the time, but not so much on the really dark fabrics. If anyone has any ideas on what colour thread would blend better on multiple fabric colours please let me know!

I love it - some of them really do look like eclipses! Good job!

I think it looks wonderful! I find that a golden tan colour blends pretty good with most colours. A longarm quilter in our area uses it unless you specifically ask for a certain colour.
