This will be a lap quilt for my wonderful MIL. She is an avid crossword puzzle girl! Sadly, she is starting to lose parts of her memory. This lap quilt will have her family's names in a crossword puzzle format. It is for her birthday in November. The letters are cut from a piece of moda fabric, the black is marbled black by moda. The red for the border is a Christmas fabric (red with little black dots) called Winter Wishes. The best news is that I bought all of the fabric at the LQS while they were having a 20% off sale. I do have to go back for more black and I have way too many letters. I still need to work on fabric amounts. (More for my newly developing stash.)

Good idea! I might have to make a Scrabble quilt someday... we play a lot of Scrabble in our house.

I hope reading the names daily will help keep your MIL's memory fresh.

So cool! I can't imagine though how challenging it must be to create your own puzzle with family member's names...making them all connect and everything. I'm impressed that you're tackling such a complexed project! Looking forward to seeing it when you're done.
