    It's really not that complicated. Just divide the whole thing into eighths. It's all paper pieced. Planning out the color graduations in the background of the spikes inside, was a good idea. It was a bit hard to imagine what the whole design would look like when all put together, but I like mine more than the original in Deb Karasik's book, " Quilts with Attitude". The background black Batik is not a solid but looks like it from a distance. I did glue actual pieces of fabric on to the pattern before I began sewing each section. I find that to be helpful.

    My mouth is hanging ope, i haven't seen anything that intricate and eye popping in a while. No wonder you won first and people's choice!
