A quilting friend mentioned this method as I was having probs with ordinary hand quilting, I Googled n saw this: http://sewprimitive.blogspot.com/2007/01/big-stitch-examples.html and couldn't resist so I made this over the weekend.

The quilting only took a couple of hours  the PP took a day n half

I like big stitch quilting, as I can keep the stitches more evenly spaced. Adds nice texture too.

I think I will give it a try. I tried hand quilting but was disappointed that my stitches were too big. Thanks for sharing this.

I used Perle #8 Crochet Cotton Embroidery Thread there are some terrific buys on Ebay with an ordinary quilt needle, size 9 I think.

Great job on your long stitches and they are very straight too. :)

Here's another link for big stitching that I found.

I love to do the big stitch as it is so much faster! And I think it looks good, too. Yours looks great btw.

When I was a young'un, my grandmother called stitches like that 'toenail catchers'. LOL! Times do change!
