I didn't finish the quilt by Christmas
However I had all 9 blocks with me when I visited Granty in the residential home and she was really interested, felt her way down all the seams and talked about the fabrics in quite an animated way. She said that she was very impressed with how much I'd done in three months.
She talked about an unfinished top that had come into Oxfam once when she was volunteering there. She bought it and her sister 'backed it' (I'm not sure how, whether quilted or not) and Granty told me about who has that now, and how sorry she felt for the lady who had once pieced it, and it had ended up in Oxfam.
She then turned to me and, very clearly, said 'Make sure you get this back, Helen' ... so we talked about quilt labels.
Granty says it is nice to have something to look forward to and she likes the idea of a Christmassy quilt in the Summer (when I next visit Britain) She's always had a healthy sense of the ridiculous!
I'm quite relieved actually as I didn't like the feeling of the time pressure I'd given myself and I do feel very nervous about qulting this onto the fleece blanket (one additional layer is hopefully easier than a sandwich)
I look forward to doing a good job on it now!
