    Hi. I am not sure I understand your question, lol, there is no point really other than a deisgn choice. For me, I just wanted to add a color splash, and it does add a nice 3D dimension. I've seen many OBW quilts that didn't have cubes and were fabulous, it is just a design outlet that you can choose to add or not.

    That inspires me to get out my OBW UFO and work on it some more. Mine is made from a print with apples, plums, cherries, grapes and leaves. Lots of pinks and greens, with some purple thrown in.
    Oh that sounds pretty, will be looking forward to seeing it.
