My first paid commissioned quilt

My first paid commissioned quilt
A friend contacted me a couple of weeks before Christmas and asked if I’d be interested in making a quilt for one of her friends. I initially wasn’t interested for the reasons you all know, but she say he would be very easy to work with (he definitely was) and he understands this is an expensive undertaking. I told her to have him call me, we talked, and I sent him what I considered to be a fair quote. He replied that he was fine with it, and he understood it would be later in January when the quilt was finished.
He wanted a predominantly grey quilt with possibly an accent of burgundy, and he wanted some of his grandkids’ clothes appliquéd next to his wife’s heart. This is the first time I’ve done appliqué so I think it looks ok.
I just got the binding on tonight and I must say I’m very happy with how this turned out. I initially wanted to put another border on the outside, but the quilt didn’t look right now matter how many fabrics I tried. Eventually I had to admit that another border was just going to be too busy because he wanted it to be a very calm color palette. I’ve never finished a quilt with a border this small, but I think it frames and completes the quilt very well.
Since I am missing a piece of my quilt frame from the two moves, I sent this one to Andrew, the Combat Quilter, and he did an excellent job on the quilting. The quilt is in the wash now so it will be crinkly and fresh and ready to use. I hope to deliver tomorrow.
Thanks for looking.

Beautiful, I especially love the gray paisley backing. And the red centers.
We made many quilts for customers over the years, they were almost always very happy with them. I think we as quilters tend to agonize over decisions when the customer is just thrilled to be getting a hand-made quilt.
