That is one fantastic quilt. Beautiful colors, and the log cabin is a true "quilters' quilt in my opinion. Look at how the pattern comes out, with such a simple set of blocks. You really did a beautiful job! Did you do the piecing and quilting yourself? I'd love to see a close up on the quilting, and a shot of the backing that you chose!

You did great, Mary! You have a wonderful eye for color and I just love how it's not in need of a bed skirt that it almost touches the floor! Welcome to the board from VA!

I agree, I love the length going all the way to the floor. Some of that will disappear (a couple inches?) when it is quilted but still, magnificent! I always make my quilts for my beds a bit bigger than the pattern calls for because I love it when it drapes over the edges of the bed.

This was taken after it was quilted. I turn that binding uner so wouldn't lose that much.

I LOVE these colors. They look so "authentic"....like made in a prairie home. Really beautiful and cozy.

I started piecing them three years ago. I did a block of the month first & that is what got me started.

Bump! Who would ever guess that this is your first pieced quilt? Pat yourself on the back ...... log cabin is an ambitious pattern for your first quilt ..... many of us (myself incleded) started out with something much simpler, such as Yellow Brick Road or Nine Patch.

I would say that you have a "quilter's eye". Your color choices are terrific and your quilt is just beautiful. I hope to make myself a log cabin next year with those red/cranberry colors and tan. Keep on quiltin"!!
