That is a beautiful story and your quilts are wonderful....love every one of them. My grandmother did embroidery and tatting. As a little girl I learned embroidery from her...but never got as good at it...but I could never learn tatting.
She used to make everyone emb. pillowcases with tatted edges. After she died, many of the pillowcases were falling apart. I collected them all and used any good parts of the embroidery and picked the tatting from the edges. I made everyone in the family a Christmas ornament for their tree. They were a huge hit. I wish I could have something she embroidered to make into a quilt.
