How about using more than one color of thread. I like the quilting thread to match the area being quilted. I see blue, red, yellow, and green.

If you use just one color, consider using a yellow or gold--I have found it blends in with most colors.

Now that is some fine beginner work. You are going to have some major masterpieces in your future. This one is breath taking. Try a medium gray thread for quilting. Just pull off a few yards of thread and let it puddle on the quilt. That is the best way I've found to audition colors.
