My great-grandmother passed away when I was 11, and my grandmother (her daughter) inherited her handmade quilts. My grandmother passed away a couple of months ago, and I was lucky enough to inherit both some quilts she'd made, and also my great-grandmother's quilts.

Here are some photos. The dresden plate quilt is partly machine-pieced, but otherwise they're all hand-pieced and hand-quilted.

Wow, simply amazing!!! I so wish I had some kind of family treasure like that. I'm sorry to hear about your grandmother. She'd be so happy to know her quilts will be treasured instead of thrown in the back of a closet somewhere, or worse, used to haul furniture and pack boxes with. Thank you for sharing these quilts with us.

I love all the fabric from feed sacks. They remind me of my grandmothers quilts. So Beautiful.

Couple more of the same quilt.

My grandmother crocheted afghans too, but I don't have any photos handy. She mostly made them with Granny squares. I inherited a lot of those, as well. 8-)

Thanks everyone! I'm so glad to get them, especially since nobody else in my family has one speck of interest in quilting or crocheting, much less any idea of the time and effort that went into making them. They would've been the type to use them for furniture padding, unfortunately. Grrr!

I'll treasure these quilts forever. 8-)

Oh boy !! what a treasure. My granny who lived in Missouri during the twenties and thirties left me a "scrap book" of her quilting patterns, mostly cut from the Kansas City Star newspaper. A couple of your grandma's quilts look amazingly like some of the patterns my granny left for me.

I love the way she outlined the butterflys on the sides and bottoms! Very nice.

Those are a treasure and thank goodness they fell into your hands and not someone who wouldn't give them the respect they deserve!
