Thanks for all the supportive comments. It was a labor of love and I am working on the next one in my head and on paper. Even the design process is rewarding. I guess I have to make 2 more in some form so the daughters won't fight over them when I'm gone.
I did find fabric for the backing yesterday. Went to a LQS (40 minutes away) just to look and they were having a going out of business sale (sad to say). 45% of if you took the rest of the bolt. It is going to take about 9 yards and finding that on a bolt was the hardest part. Ended up with almost 10 yards by finishing the bolt.
Now I need to get to Joann's and get the batting with a coupon!
