    Maybe light blue and then brown. I don't see any other light blue other than in the middle, so that would pull that color out to the edges.

    I agree with the small yellow border and then brown. The colors are busy and this would calm the project. Make sure you take a photo and let us see the finished project. Congratulations on a job well done.

    I cheated... I did it on the machine. I used the Tute from here. (Thanks by the way, I don't remember who sent the link to me, but it really helped.) And since she wanted it for Mother's Day, and because I was really dreading this project, I wanted to get it done ASAP.

    I decided on 4" Tan as the first border, 1" Brown as the second border, and a 9" Red drop. Her favorite color is red and loved all the bright colors. I'm using all solids because I can't find these fabrics anymore (of course), but I remember them well. They were some of my favorites in the 70's too.
